The High Street and Harris Tweed

What is the Difference Between High street and Designer?

The strict differentiation between High Street and designer has slowly come to an end. At one level this has been helped by the likes of Versace and Lanvin doing collections with H&M but the paradigmatic change runs deeper.

A New Era: Designer Talent Meets High-Street Accessibility

Around ten years ago, Executives at Topshop, Topman, H&M and Zara started to scout the best talent at graduation shows.

Harris Tweed Hebrides (HTH) first engaged with Topman back in early 2010. A collection of short cut, slim-lapelled hipster-candy sold out fast and even faster in 2011. As a company HTH was determined to bring the fashion fabric to a new audience and Topman was the vanguard. This year Harris Tweed fabric hits the High Street in force. Collections at John Lewis, Marks & Spencers, Dr Martins and of course Topman together with traditional jackets at the Edinburgh Woolen Mill not forgetting some great shoes at Clarks.

For the hardcore Harris Tweedsters, please don’t worry we can only make around one million meters a year via our 120 weavers. So the product is and always will be limited edition.

The Big Cloth (Clo Mor) now available on the High Street including our own Stornoway store.

Shop our full range of tweed fabric online, where exceptional fabrics neets endless choice.
